Last week, Armando was getting ready to leave the house to take the boys to daycare and told Gabe, "Go give Mommy hugs and kisses", like he does most mornings. Usually Gabe comes running, gives me hugs and kisses, and is off on his way out the door to daycare. But this particular morning, he was dawdling. The credits to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse were still on the tv and I could tell by the look on Gabe's face and the way he sideways walked towards me while keeping his eyes on the tv that he was really only half listening. (Nothing like playing second fiddle to a mouse in red underpants to make you feel appreciated, let me tell you! But I digress....)
Anyhow, he hugged and kissed me, then grabbed my face with both hands and said. "Hot dogs and chickens, Mommy!"
Me: *scratches head* "What, baby?"
Gabe: *blank stare like he's not sure what just came out of his mouth*
Me: *grasping at straws* "Did you mean 'Hugs & kisses'?"
Gabe, kinda embarrassed sounding: "Ummmm...... ya!"
I giggled to myself about this all day. Hot dog, I love that kid.
