Busy day today. Mando and I took the day off of work, toured two daycares and had our 17 week appointment. Appointment went great, everything still looks great, and the baby is measuring right on schedule. The doctor also scheduled me for our big ultrasound in three weeks! Woot!
Touring the daycares was... interesting. Daycares are one thing that I (and probably DH too) am going to be very picky about. We've both worked in the field, so we know what to look for, and know a good center when we see one. The first place was just ok, in my opinion. Their infant and toddler program left a lot to be desired. It was in compliance with state licensing, but they didn't seem to interact with the babies much or do any of those "extras" that I feel are so important for infants and toddlers. I liked the second place much better. The teachers got down and played with the kids on the floor, they interacted with them during lunchtime and they had room for the kids to move around and crawl. The only tricky thing about that daycare is that while it is very close to where I work, it isn't close to our house, so it wouldn't work to share the pickup/dropoff duties with DH. So we'll see. I think we may try to find one more place to look at that is closer to home, just so we have a little more choice.
