Let me say, the people at Picture People were great. Gabe was not at his best, unfortunately. We timed it so we got there right after he had woken up from a nap, and he wasn't due to eat for another hour. Usually he is his smiliest (not a word, but whatevs) just after he wakes up. She got a few shots in, but he decided he was hungry. So we take a break so I can nurse him. She let us stay in the back with the curtain closed while I nursed, which I appreciated (although I would have been happy to nurse in the waiting area). Well right after he nursed, he pooped. Of course. And it leaked out the bottom of his onesie. Of course. Aaaand we only had one wipe left in the diaper bag. Of.course. But luckily, his outfit was overalls, and although it got on the inside of the overalls a bit, it didn't soak through. Yes, shocker, I'm a bad mommy and left him in poopy clothes for all of 20 minutes for the sake of pictures. Sue me.
After eating and pooping, he was a little more willing to cooperate, but still not giving us his usual huge smiles and talking. Even so, the photographer was great. She was very patient with him, and the minute he started to fuss, she had me pick him up and we waited until he was ready again. Also, the little imp would not stop sticking out his tongue. He's just discovered his tongue in the past week and he sticks it out constantly. I walked out thinking "Well, the pictures may not be the best, but it's no biggie."
Let me say, the pictures came out a-mazing. You would never know that he wasn't super happy. We ended up picking out four pictures to get as 4x6 and 5x7 and a framed picture of four pictures. They were running a special that if you bought the framed picture for $129, you got to pick out 5 sheets of pictures for free. In addition, since it was our first time there, they gave us a free 10x13. That, plus enrollment in the photo club ($39.95 with $10 off), the total came to $170. Not bad, in my opinion. We splurged a bit on the framed picture, but it was completely worth it.
