I started back to work this past week. Gabe doesn't start daycare until August 17th, so my mom is here to watch Gabe for now. Its been easier than I expected, but still tough. I'm absolutely exhausted by the time I get home. And having a baby at home means I can't just flop down on the couch and veg like I used to. There are bottles and pump parts to wash, milk to get ready for the next day and a hungry/sleepy baby to watch. Also, Gabe tends to be a bit fussy after 5 pm, so it's hard because he really doesn't seem to care that I was gone or that I'm back.
But there are positives as well. My boss has been great, and is letting me split my lunch break so that I can pump twice a day. He also went out of his way to clean up our file storage room so I have a private place to pump. I've found so far that I'm pumping way more than Gabe needs right now, which is a relief. I had mentally prepared myself to have to use my freezer stash and to supplement with formula once a day if needed, but so far I've been freezing 2 bottles worth on top of providing for the next day.
Gabe has changed a bunch over the past two weeks. He is much more smiley and he has discovered his voice. He loooves to talk to anyone who will listen. It's incredibly cute. If you give him your undivided attention and smile at him, he will grin and respond back to you with and "Llll!" or an "Aaaah!" every time you say something. He also started sleeping through the night this week (HALLELUJAH!). He had been sleeping from about 9pm to 3 am since about 1 month old, but this week he stretched things out and will sleep until at least 5 am, usually 6 am. This works out perfectly because I can nurse him, pump, and still have time to get dressed and ready for work in the morning.
That's all for now. I'll try to upload a video of him "talking" soon.

Wow, time is flying!
Your baby is sooo cute!!!!
Lucky lady! Did you have to do anything to get him to sleep longer or did he do it on his own. CJ is still on that 10-4 schedule. It would be nice for him to push it to 5:30 or 6 once I start work.
